本 MODULE A1 (第一課第二節) 單元將講解如何介紹自己、你的家庭成員及其他個人興趣、工作範圍及 個人見解及感受。 此外，當中更會列出如何表達自己特質一些參考例句; 例如一些有關自己的工作、處事或社交態度; 你可以根據我們的參考句子， 準備自己的"開場白"介紹自己。 在這個單元我們介紹一些基本電話對答; 無論在那一個行業, 有很多時候我們都會面對不同客人的電話查詢- 一些基本的對答技巧是有必要的; 因此，這裏將提供一些營業服務的英語電話對答及有關例句參考，讓各位學員了解電話英語文化的技巧。

<<本課程主旨>>


介紹自己時， 我們會從自己 的名稱、年紀、出生地、名稱及相關工作行業開始，簡單介紹家人以及他們的相關資訊 – 在這裏，我們可以一概統稱為 "FACT 事實" 資料. 在本課，我們將先以不同簡單的句子表達一些你自己或家庭成員的"事實"資料。 這些事實資料相對簡單、直接及變化不大。之後， 我們繼而討論個人感受、 對人或事情的意見、興趣等這些會根據不同年資、人生閱歷經驗、地方而改變的個人看法及態度。

在本 Module A1 的英語會話熱身中，我們將先以不同簡單的句子表達一些個人或家庭成員的"事實"資料。在完成個人資料之後，我們可根據我們接觸的對象及場地等因素表達其他不同類型的資訊; 這些內容的資訊性及關係將取決於表達的場地、聆聽者個人背景及其他環境因素。 

例如，如果有關個人介紹發生在求職的面試中時，我們將加強討論一些我們的長處、過往經驗、工作態度、及其他相關經歷，以不同的描述讓面試者了解到我們有什麼相關技能能勝任工作。

相反, 如果我們在餐廳認識新朋友時，我們所介紹自己的將會集中在我們對自身興趣、 運動嗜好、或其他社會熱話的看法， 從而讓對方了解我們更多。這個時候我們所談論的話題將會是一些比較受歡迎或熱門的共同題目**。

**一個健康的對話， 最基本元素，包括資料連繫性、是否可持續雙方交流(或是一面倒只有一方主導整個對話)、談話內容的語句以至到資訊多少否恰到好處。因此我們建議同學除了能準確以英語表達的時候，需要顧及聆聽者的感受，在表達後鼓勵對方發表意見、是否有類似的興趣或嘗試了解對方的背景等


 

本課題希望達致:

  1. 了解首次見面的開場對白及查詢例句;
  2. 以簡單及直接的方式介紹自己個人及家庭成員的的有關資料; 以輕鬆的手法敘述近況及獲得其他相關資料



NAME 名稱


  • My name is Natalie Lee (Lee Tao Ling) 我的名字是 Natalie Lee.
  • All my friends call me Nat 所有我的朋友會叫我 Nat.
  • My nickname is _______ 我的暱稱/外號 叫作 ___________
  • I do not have an English name 我沒有英文名稱 
  • You can simply call me Ling 你可以直接叫我阿玲

像中國傳統社會，在西方，外國人替兒子或女兒取名的時候，當中的意思會包含着他們對子女的一種期盼及祝福; 因此，我們除了簡單介紹自己以外, 也可以在名稱上解釋當中的意思”

  • My Name is Yung. In Chinese, it means “to be brave” (我的名字叫阿勇; 在中文我的名稱意思解作 “勇敢”)
  • My father gave me this name and wish I could be a fair, truthful and frank person 我爸爸給我這個名稱，希望我是一個公平 fair, 真誠 truthful 以及坦率 frank的人.
     

在外國，有些朋友為表示友好會，直接稱呼你的名稱; 他們會這樣問你:  "Can I call you Jack?" 我可以叫你做 Jack 嗎? 而有些時候，他們會這樣查詢你的英語名稱串法:

  • Can you spell your name out for me please? 你的名字怎樣串法
  • Hi Yung, is it Y-U-N or is it Y-U-N-G ? 阿勇! 你的串法是 Y-U-N 還是 Y-U-N-G ?



YEARS OF AGE 年紀

  • I am 40 years old. 我40歲
  • I will be 50 in a couple of months. 再過數個月，我便 50 歲了
  • I just had my 40th birthday last month. 我上個月剛剛到過我 40 歲的生日
  • I am 35 years old and my wife is three years younger than me. 我今年 35 歲，我的太太比我年輕三年。 


ORIGIN 籍貫 / 出生地

  • I am from Hong Kong and we moved to London/UK two months ago.  我來自香港，兩個月前到達英國
  • I was born in China. When I was three years old, I moved to Hong Kong with my family. 我在中國出世，三歲的時候與家人前往香港
  • I am proficient in both Cantonese and Mandarin. 我精通廣東話及普通話


我們表達自己對某一個語言的流暢程度時, 可以根據以下的詞彙形容:


BASIC (基本) -> CONVERSATIONAL (一般會話) -> FLUENT (流利) -> PROFICIENT(精通)


例子:

  1. I can understand and speak basic English 我明白及可以說一些簡單的英語

  2. My English is a bit rusty since I haven’t been using it for a while. 我有一段時間沒有使用英文而我的英語會話已經有點生疏。 (“rusty” 本身是指金屬的氧化化學作用，亦即是我們常常說的生銹 - 但在這裏則是"生疏")

  3.  If you speak slowly, I may be able to understand what you are saying. 如果別人說慢一些，我能夠明白他們的意思。

If you are married and have children (已婚及有小朋友人士):


  • This is my wife ________ and these are my daughters, Anna and Joey. Anna is the elder sister aged 6 and Joey is the younger daughter, aged 4. (這是我的妻子_____以及我兩名女兒 , Anna和 Joey. Anna 是家姐今年六歲, Joey 是妹妹今年四歲).

Subsequently, you can talk about the arrangements for your children and about your spouse (介紹完你的家人後; 其實你可以再說多少少有關你們小朋友的安排及有關)

Example:

  1. “ At the moment, we are looking for local public schools for Anna and Joey, do you have any suggestion?” (現階段我嘗試幫 Anna & Joey 搵本地公立學校, 你有沒有好提 議?)

  2. Are there any special requirements (in the application) that require my attention ? 在這邊申請入學有什麼特定的要求需要我留意?

  3. What are the difference between Public and Private schools in the UK (在英國公立及私立學 校有什麼分別?

** 在介紹的時候，你甚至乎可以說說你"伴侶在尋找工作"等這些容易製造話題的簡短介紹，例如:

My wife is looking for part time work (我太太現正現正尋找兼職工作). 

She wishes to work in nearby Café or local restaurant (她希望可以在就近咖啡店或本地餐廳上班). 

My hubby (丈夫) is a mechanic when he was in Hong Kong 在香港的時候, 我的先生/丈夫是一個維修員. He opens to any part time or full time job in similar industry 他願意在相關行業中尋找兼職或全職工作.

Are there any regulations (law) concerning minimum wages when working part time (有沒有條例(法例)有關於兼職工作的最低時薪?). What are the usual business hour here ? (營業時間通常是幾時到幾時) 


If you are single you can talk about yourself more on work or hobbies 

(如果你是單身可以多提及有關你的工作及興趣)(有關興趣及其他工作將於其他單元內提供)

NAME 名稱 

My name is Natalie Lee (Lee Tao Ling)

  • All my friends call me Nat (我的朋友會叫我 Nat)
    • My nickname (花名) is ___________
    • I don’t have an English name (我沒有英文名稱) / you can simply call me Ling (你可以直接叫我 阿玲)
    • “In Western Culture, parent will give their name to their children with meaning .....在西方社會，外國人替兒子或女兒改名稱都有一定程度的含意或遠景; 因此除 了簡單介紹自己, 也可以在名稱上解釋當中的意思及期盼”
    • In Chinese, My name means “ brave” (在中文我的名稱意思解作 “勇敢”)
      My father gave me this name and wish I could be a fair, truthful and frank person (我爸爸給我這個名稱，希望我是一個公平, 真誠及坦率的人)


-請留意, 在外國有些朋友為表示友好會直接稱呼你的名稱，他們會這樣問你:  "Can I call you Jack?"

-有些時候他們會這樣查詢你的英語名稱 "May I ask how to spell your name ?"


YEARS OF AGE 年紀

  • I am 40 years old;
  • I am almost fifty years old (我差不多 50 歲了);
  • I just have my fortieth birthday last month (我上個月剛剛到過我 40 歲的生日);

  • I am from Hong Kong and arrived Britain two months ago. (我來自香港，兩個月前到達英國)
